In August of 2015, Mark Gostlin accepted the invitation of Pastor John Watkins of Victory Baptist Church in Alexander City, Alabama to become the General Director of Good Shepherd Baptist Missions. He had served in various development and teaching roles with GSBM since 1997, especially the Missionary Training Schools and the Pastors Training Schools.
He is a missionary serving with Beacon International Baptist Mission in French speaking countries, particularly France and Cameroon, emphasizing evangelism, church planting, and leadership training. He is currently developing a literature and supplies service for French language materials. All of this work operates under the banner ‘Project Redemption’ and has for it’s highest aim the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prior to beginning Project Redemption, Mark pastored in Ohio for 18 years, first planting a church in Orrville, Ohio, and then serving as an assoicate pastor in Brunswick, Ohio, before accepting the call to pastor First Baptist Church in Spencer, Ohio, where he served for more than 15 years.
GSBM and those involved with it have marked his ministry as both a pastor and a missionary. This influence has powerfully informed the biblical principles and ministry philosophy for Project Redemption. As General Director of GSBM, Mark is committed to see GSBM continue to function as a catalyst for helpful, effective, Spirit-led cooperation between churches and ministry leaders. Expansion of the Online School for Ministry Leaders and the Emergency Helps Ministries are priorities for him. This expansion is in terms of materials offered, languages they are available in (French, Spanish), and continents they are available on. The use of current technology and delegation of development responsibilities to capable people will be important to the success of this vision. As with anything of spiritual importance, the enabling power and leadership of the Holy Spirit are most vital.
Mark has been married to Anne Gostlin since 1980. She is a midwife and licensed practical nurse. They have 6 children and a growing number of grandchildren whom they love very much.
