September 2008 PTS . . .
The next GSBM Pastors Training School/retreat will be held in LaGrange,
Georgia, September 22nd through the 25th. This tremendous learning experience and
fellowship opportunity is being hosted by Oakside Baptist Church where Stephen Curry
is pastor.
This PTS will be the first one that GSBM has conducted at a campground rather
than in a church facility. The Georgia Sheriffs Association has made their beautiful,
spacious, and new facilities at Camp Pioneer in LaGrange, Georgia, available for our use.
Classes will be conducted in a large open pavilion unless the weather does not cooperate.
There are a total of sixty-eight beds in the four large cabins, and we encourage early
applications.
Pastors attending the PTS/retreat will pay only a $45.00 matriculation fee to help
offset some of the administration and material costs. Meals and lodging will be provided
by the members of Oakside Baptist Church. GSBM will have raised the necessary funds
to provide instructors' travel expenses and small love offerings.
The environment is one of intense learning through a closely guarded schedule of
classes and open discussion periods of forty minutes each. A two hundred page manual
is provided for each attendee. Classes will be challenging, and pastors will be encouraged
to evaluate their ministries in light of the material taught. Bethany Divinity College and
Seminary of Dothan, Alabama acknowledges the academic excellence of PTS and thereby
awards PTS attendees three semester hours of college or seminary credit.
Spanish-speaking pastors are also being encouraged to attend. Some classes will
be separated for the Spanish while others will make use of an interpreter.
